An improved design for a closed chamber process module for single wafer wet processing utilizes a combination lid and gas showerhead for sealing the chamber from above. One or more media arms dispense liquid onto a wafer in the chamber. The media arms are mounted inside the chamber but are connected by a linkage that passes through the chamber wall to a drive unit mounted outside the chamber.

The present invention relates to a capsule containing a substance for the preparation of a beverage that is designed to be extracted by injection of a fluid under pressure. The capsule comprises a closed chamber containing the substance with at least part of the closed chamber including a retaining part made of a flexible membrane. One or more raised elements that face the membrane are associated with and forming part of the capsule. These element(s) are used to open the capsule due to a buildup of pressure therein. This rise in pressure causes relative engagement of the raised element(s) with the membrane until the membrane ruptures or is torn to release the formed beverage from the chamber. As the liquid of the beverage does not come into contact with the machine, hygiene is improved and cross-contamination is reduced when preparing a beverage from the capsule.

This invention encompasses an apparatus and methods which enable the testing of fingerprint readers in an automated fashion. A test object representative of a fingerprint can be created from an electrically conducive silicone material. Due to the properties of this material, the same test object can be read by fingerprint sensors of various types. Once the test object is generated, it can be affixed to an automated apparatus thus allowing tests to be conducted in closed chambers, on an assembly line, or under other conditions that would be impossible or impractical were human fingers to be used.

A method and apparatus for ensuring against explosion of the gaseous atmosphere of a closed chamber, such as the QDCD room of an internal turret of an offshore production and offloading buoy wherein the closed chamber has production risers and conduit connectors that represent a potential source of flammable gas. The method comprises mixing and diluting the oxidant content of the air by introducing within the closed chamber a sufficient quantity of inert gas to render the mixture of the air and any flammable gas non-combustible regardless of the flammable gas content of the mixture. According to the system, a large-aperture perpendicular feeding pipe is used for feeding the material, so that the feeding capacity of the filling material is improved, and a filling effect and the safety are improved; by the umbrella-shaped impact resistance buffering device, falling impact force of the filling material can be relieved; the compactness of the filling material in the bin can be reduced; and the bins can be prevented from being plugged.

A system and a method for determining the leakproofness of an object having a first cavity. The system includes a closed chamber having a second cavity arranged to envelope the object, an evacuator for lowering the pressure inside one of the cavities, a supply for supplying a tracer gas into the one of the cavities rendered the higher pressure, a detector sensitive to the tracer gas and an introducer for introducing a transport gas into the one of the cavities rendered the lower pressure. Furthermore, the evacuator is arranged to compress arriving gas to the ambient pressure of the chamber and to communicate with the detecting means, which is suited for operation at the ambient pressure of the chamber.
