ball bearing housing containing a plurality of ball bearings, a plurality of shock absorbers, a plurality of linkage rods, and a
pulley system. The top plate is adapted for sliding over the ball bearings in a lateral, forward, and / or rearward direction in response to a
vehicle accident or to a sudden hard braking of the vehicle. The vehicle seat apparatus may further include at least one seat restraint and at least two lateral side air bags.
