The method comprises the following steps that:establishing the active power equivalent models of an alternating current electric transmission line and a direct current electric transmission line, which participate in optimal scheduling, in a multi-area alternating current and direct current hybrid power grid; on the basis of the active power equivalent models, establishing a security constrained unit commitment optimal model which considerspartitioning load balance; solving the security constrained unit commitment optimal model; according to an optimization result, considering that all network monitoring elements are subjected to security correction; and if no new monitoring element power flow is out of limit, outputting an optimization result. Meanwhile, the invention discloses a corresponding system. By use of the method, power generation resources can be optimally regulated and controlled from a large range, a multi-area unit commitment scheme and the power plan of a cross-area alternating current and direct current electrictransmission line can be subjected to combined optimization, and large power grid ruling ability and electric power resource optimal configuration ability are improved.
