Method and system for integrated uncertainty analysis

A system and a method are provided for performing an integrated uncertainty analysis on a system having interacting modules. The interaction of the modules includes data transfer between the modules with the output of one module being indicative of the input of another module. An uncertainty analysis is performed on each module based on given probability density functions of each input to the module. The uncertainty analysis may include developing a deterministically equivalent model for one or more modules. Data may be provided from one module to another in a uniform format. Thus, two or more modules may be integrated with uncertainties in the inputs of one module being effectively propagated to the inputs of another module. A plurality of modules may thus be modeled as a single integrated system. The integrated system may be replaced with a deterministically equivalent model, preferably of a further reduced order. In this manner, key uncertainties in particular inputs may be isolated. Once these inputs are identified, resources may be effectively allocated to minimize the impact of those inputs on the variability of the results.

Removing Artifact in Evoked Compound Action Potential Recordings in Neural Stimulators

The accuracy of neural response recordings in neural stimulators, e.g., cochlear implants, is often degraded by a recording artifact. An idealized electrical-equivalent model of a neural stimulator is created to study, measure and compensate for artifact evoked compound action potential (eCAP). Using this model, the artifact is shown to occur even when the electrical components that make-up the neural stimulator are ideal. The model contains parasitic capacitances between the electrode wires. The model demonstrates that these small parasitic capacitances provide a current path during stimulation which can deposit charge on the electrode-tissue interfaces of the recording electrodes. The dissipation of this residual charge and the charge stored across the stimulating electrode is seen as the recording artifact. The proposed solution for eliminating the artifact problem is realized by utilizing a capacitive electrode material, e.g., TiO2, Ta2O5, or other dielectric coatings or films, instead of Faradaic electrode material, e.g., Platinum (Pt), Pt—Ir alloy or similar alloys, on the neural stimulator electrode lead.

By the aid of the simulation modeling method, transient-state characteristics of the doubly-fed wind-power generator set can be simulated accurately, and different characteristics and mutual affection among multiple wind-power generator sets can be computed. High-frequency on and off of fully-controlled devices cannot be taken into consideration, and simulation efficiency is improved greatly. The more the wind-power generator sets are simulated, the more evidently the efficiency is improved, simulation step-length can be increased on the premise of guaranteeing accuracy, and simulation efficiency is improved greatly.

The invention discloses a lithium battery SOC online estimation method comprising the following steps that 1) the open-circuit voltage of a battery is measured, and the state-of-charge initial value of the battery is obtained according to an OCV-SOC curve; 2) the second-order RC equivalent model of the battery is established and the parameter initial value of the battery equivalent model is estimated; 3) the estimation program is started, and the matching coefficient initial value of a state equation is set according to the battery state-of-charge initial value and the parameter initial value of the battery equivalent model; 4) the current battery state-of-charge value is obtained by using an adaptive unscented Kalman filtering algorithm, and the current open-circuit voltage is obtained according to the OCV-SOC curve; 5) the least square method with the forgetting factor is started to identify the parameters of the current battery equivalent model, the matching coefficient of the state equation is updated by the identified parameters and the battery state-of-charge value of the next moment is solved; and 6) the steps 4) and 5) are repeated so that the battery state-of-charge value of each moment is obtained. Compared with the conventional unscented Kalman filtering algorithm, the method has higher accuracy and higher error convergence.

A method for uncertainty estimation for nonlinear inverse problems includes obtaining an inverse model of spatial distribution of a physical property of subsurface formations. A set of possible models of spatial distribution is obtained based on the measurements. A set of model parameters is obtained. The number of model parameters is reduced by covariance free compression transform. Upper and lower limits of a value of the physical property are mapped to orthogonalspace. A model polytope including a geometric region of feasible models is defined. At least one of random and geometric sampling of the model polytope is performed in a reduced-dimensional space to generate an equi-feasible ensemble of models. The reduced-dimensional space includes an approximated hypercube. Probable model samples are evaluated based on data misfits from among an equi-feasible model ensemble determined by forward numerical simulation. Final uncertainties are determined from the equivalent model ensemble and the final uncertainties are displayed in at least one map.
