Embodiment 1
[0128] Contains a clear commercial body wash gel base ( Zero) and 0.75% by weight of one of the particulate talc materials specified in Table 1 below were ranked by 10 different individuals in order of pearliness. The composition is also compared with the commercial cosmetic composition Gliss TM (Ultimate Color Shampoo) and Ushuaia TM (RItuels d’Asie Shampooing Douche Homme Effet Glacant Roche Volcanique) for comparison.

[0131]
[0132] The result is as figure 1 shown. It has surprisingly been found that particulate talc materials with a high layer like index provide a better pearlescent effect.
Embodiment 2
[0134] A composition was prepared comprising a transparent commercial body wash gel base ( Zero) and 0.75% by weight of one of the particulate talc materials 2, 4, 6, 9 and 11 (as described above in Table 1) and 0.3% by weight of a black pigment (GLW60GBSP, which contains 58% to 62% by weight of oxidized Iron, available from Kobo Products, Inc). The composition was ranked by 10 persons in order of pearliness. The results are shown in figure 2 and 3 middle. Again, it has surprisingly been found that particulate talc materials with a high layer of like index provide a better pearlescent effect.
Embodiment 3
[0136] A composition was prepared comprising a transparent commercial body wash gel base ( Zero or Pure) and varying amounts of the particulate talc 6 specified in Table 1 above and optionally 0.3% by weight of the black pigment described in Example 2. A comparative composition was also prepared comprising a clear commercial body wash gel base ( Zero or Pure) and various amounts of base pearlescent agent and optionally 40% by weight of the black pigment described in Example 2. Benchmark pearlescent agents are Benchmark 1 (Ethylene Glycol Distearate and Coco-Glucoside and Glycerin), Benchmark 2 (Distearyl Glycol Acid and Sodium Laureth Sulfate and Cocamide MEA), Benchmark 3 (Lauryl Glucoside and Stearyl Citrate) and Benchmark 4 (Sodium Laureth Sulfate / Glyceth-2 Cocoate / Ethylene Glycol Distearate) (available from Kao). These compositions were ranked by 6 people in order of pearliness.
[0137] use The composition of the Pure matrix is graded as follows (low to high ...
