The fault detection method comprises the steps of: acquiring a module voltageof each energy storage power supply module during operation of the energy storage power supply; for each energy storage power supply module, calculating to obtain a module voltage equilibrium value and a module voltage fluctuation value based on the module voltage, judging whether the module voltage equilibrium value is greater than a first preset threshold value or not in an acquisition period,and judging whether the module voltage fluctuation value is greater than a second preset threshold value or not in the acquisition period; and if the module voltage equilibrium value is greater than the first preset threshold value in the acquisition period, and/or the module voltage fluctuation value is greater than the second preset threshold value, determining that the energy storage power supply modules have a fault until the determination of all the energy storage power supply modules in the energy storage power supply is completed.
