Embodiment Construction

[0026] As indicated above, the present invention provides an architecture and method for dynamic editing support and validation of application-specific information about business objects.

[0027] In this article, XML is used as the text format in canonical form. However, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art how alternative text forms can be used. XML Schema provides three elements for annotating schemas that are helpful to readers and applications: annotations, documentation, and appInfo. Documentation elements are typically the location of human-readable material. The appInfo element is typically used to provide tools, style sheets, and other application information. In the present invention, the appInfo element is used to carry Application Specific Information (hereinafter referred to as "ASI"). Both document and appInfo are represented as child elements of comments in the XML document.

Abstract

The present invention provides a method and system for generating interface code to use services of an enterprise information system. An application-specific information schema is provided that defines the format and shape of application-specific information usable in a business object schema that defines business objects and application-specific information for an enterprise information system. Also provided are enterprise metadata discovery patterns for locating application-specific information patterns to: composite types, elements, and attributes; and business object patterns. Use the metadata editor to generate the business object schema. Generate interface code using the Business Object pattern.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates generally to application integration. More specifically, the present invention provides a tool architecture for supporting validation and editing of binding information to facilitate application integration. Background technique [0002] Modern data processing systems typically use Enterprise Information System (EIS) applications to provide an organization's information infrastructure. An EIS provides services to clients via an interface, whether that interface is local, remote, or a combination of both. Example EISs include the following: SAP, PeopleSoft, Siebel, Oracle, DB2, and CICS. The resources provided to the client may include: business objects from the ERP system; data stored in the database system; and data from transaction programs in the transaction processing system. [0003] If these services must be accessed remotely, resource adapters can be used to resort to web services, J2EE messaging, or the J2EE con...
