[0001] The present invention relates to primary compositions of carotenoid-containing materials comprising at least one cis-isomer of a carotenoid-rich compound and methods of forming the same. It also relates to oral compositions comprising this primary composition in foods, food supplements, cosmetic preparations or pharmaceutical preparations. Background of the invention [0002] Commercially available compositions comprising the carotenoid, lycopene, are known. Lycopene is a natural product known to have multiple effects, especially as an antioxidant for the relief of chronic diseases.
