Methods, systems, and devices for
wireless communications are described. The described techniques may enable a
user equipment (UE) to determine a transmission power for uplink messages in uplink dense deployment. For example, the UE may receive a medium
access control-control element (MAC-CE) message indicating transmit
power control (TPC) information for one or more uplink messages to an uplink-dedicated network entity. For example, the MAC-CE message may indicate a close loop
power control parameter, a pathloss offset, or an
open loop power control parameter. Additionally, or alternatively, the UE may receive a downlink control information (DCI) message indicating a pathloss offset change or a relative
open loop power control parameter change. Additionally, or alternatively, the UE may receive an indication of a reference
signal received power (RSRP) associated with an uplink reference
signal, and may calculate a pathloss of an
uplink channel based on the RSRP.
