The invention provides a steel friction material composition for racing car which comprises 25-50 wt% steel fiber substrate or the same mixed with mineral fiber substrate; 5-20 wt% unmodified phenolic resin as binder; 15-30 wt% antimony or graphite raw material as solid lubricant; 10-30 wt% abrasive containing silicon carbide; and 10-25 wt% filler containing sponge iron powder, thus avoiding internal strength reduction of friction material which is mainly carbon fiber, preventing sharp decline of braking force, reduction of braking stability and braking noise which occur when the friction temperature over-rises in spite of relatively low melting point.
