Problems solved by technology

In addition, removing the end cap by forceful means may result in damage to the end cap or the toner cartridge
Because the replacement OPC drum is not securely fastened to the consumable box housing and the centerline of the OPC drum changes relative to the other components in the box, causing non-circular rotation, eventually when these components are reassembled, these damages can cause print defect

Abstract

The invention relates to a systems and methods of remanufacturing an imaging cartridge including the replacement an organic photo conductor (OPC) drum in the imaging cartridge having end caps which are fixedly secured to the waste bin or other portion of the toner cartridge. In one aspect, the method involves removing the existing OPC drum without detaching the end caps and installing a replacement OPC drum without disturbing the end caps.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates generally to the manufacture, remanufacture or repair of replaceable imaging assemblies, and more particularly to apparatus and techniques for disassembling drums or rollers, such as organic photoconductive (OPC) drums, for example, a Replaceable imaging cartridges. Background technique [0002] In the imaging industry, there is a rapidly growing market for recycling and reconditioning of various replaceable imaging cartridges such as toner cartridges, drum cartridges, inkjet cartridges, etc. These imaging cartridges are used in equipment such as laser printers, xerographic copiers, inkjet printers, facsimile machines, and the like. Imaging cartridges, once spent, cannot be used for their original purpose. Without the reconditioning process, these imaging cassettes would simply be discarded, even though the cassettes themselves may still have potential life. As a result, techniques have been developed to solve this prob...
