Embodiment Construction

[0014] In the following detailed description and in the several drawings, similar elements are indicated by similar reference numerals. The drawings are not drawn to scale and the dimensions of related features may be exaggerated for illustration.

[0015] One embodiment of the non-electrically driven liquid level sensor system 50 is in Figure 1-5 shown in . System 50 may be used to sense and indicate level 14 of liquid 12 in reservoir or storage tank 10 . In one embodiment, fluid 12 may be crankcase lubricating oil. The system may be used to sense the level of other liquids in storage tanks or storage, including, by way of example only, water, gasoline, or other liquid fuels in vehicle or aircraft fuel tanks, gasoline in underground storage tanks at fuel stations.

[0016] exist Figure 1-5 In an embodiment of the present invention, system 50 includes a hollow sensing tube 60 that is inserted into reservoir 10 . The sensing tube has an open distal end 62 that is positio...

Abstract

A liquid level sensor system (50) actuated by a column pressure includes a sensor head unit and a hollow member (60) having a distal open end (62) adapted to be positioned into a liquid reservoir. A connection tubing system (70) is adapted to provide a closed connection between the hollow member and the sensor head unit which further comprises: a bellows member (120) having an input stem portion (122) adapted for connection to the connection tubing system, an expandable body portion (124) and a distal bellows face surface (126), the bellows body adapted for expansion and contraction in response to differential column pressure changes so that said bellows face surface translates along a range of movement; a non-electrically-powered mechanism responsive to movement of said bellows face surface to provide an indication of the liquid level.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to liquid level sensors. Background technique [0002] Determining or estimating the liquid level in a reservoir is difficult and subject to error. Traditional arrangements include: a fuel tank sensor, which employs a flotation device that floats on the surface of the liquid; a gauge strip, which is inserted into the fuel tank, touches its bottom, and is then removed to see the liquid level on the gauge strip; or even a sight glass . Contents of the invention Description of drawings [0003] Those skilled in the art will readily understand the features and advantages of the present disclosure when reading the following detailed description in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which: [0004] figure 1 is a schematic, partially broken-away side view illustrating an embodiment of a liquid level sensor system; [0005] figure 2 is used for figure 1 Front view of an embodiment of a display surface of an ...
