Abstract

The invention discloses a general remote control device and a general remote control method for household appliances. The device comprises a gesture capture module, a signal processing module and a remote control functional module, wherein the gesture capture module is arranged on an arm of a person for capturing a signal generated on the basis of a gesture made for executing remote control of a household appliance; the signal processing module is used for recognizing the captured signal and converting the recognition result into a household appliance remote control instruction; and the remote control functional module, according to the remote control instruction, selects the corresponding household appliance and executes a corresponding remote control function. The device and the method allow a user to select and control a plurality of household appliances by making simple gestures rather than performing key-input operation, and therefore bring a convenience to the blind, the amblyope and people with failing vision.
