Abstract

The invention provides a method and a system for reducing dynamic false contours. The method and the system are suitable for display equipment using a sub-field driving technology. In the method, before the display equipment displays a current frame image, a current frame image sub-field coding mode to be adopted by the current frame image is determined; the current frame image sub-field coding mode is different from a former frame image sub-field coding mode adopted by a former frame image of the current frame image; and the display equipment displays the current frame image in the current frame image sub-field coding mode. The system comprises a random code generator and a sub-field mapping converter which are respectively used for generating a false random number in a preset mode and mapping according to the false random number to obtain the sub-field coding mode of the current frame image. By using the ransom characteristic of the false random number, the sub-field coding mode is dynamically changed in the aspect of time; the generation of the dynamic false contours is reduced in essence; and the method is essentially different from the treating scheme of dynamically changing the displaying data in the aspect of space by using a fixed sub-field coding mode.
