Problems solved by technology

However, since the rubber wiper cannot reach the stepped portion, the rubber wiper cannot catch the liquid staying at the stepped portion.
As a result, the liquid that has not been captured and stayed in the step portion solidifies and gradually accumulates, which may prevent the cap from coming into contact with the nozzle forming surface when the liquid is sucked from the nozzle, for example.
Or, the accumulated and solidified liquid may fall on the medium, resulting in the deterioration of the quality of the image formed on the medium.

Embodiment Construction

[0027] Below, refer to figure 1 , figure 2 ,as well as image 3 (a), image 3 (b) An embodiment in which the liquid ejecting device of the present invention is embodied as an inkjet printer (hereinafter, may be abbreviated as “printer”) will be described.

[0028] Such as figure 1 As shown, the substantially rectangular plate-shaped supporting member 13 is disposed inside the substantially rectangular box-shaped frame 12 of the printer 11 and at the lower part in the direction of gravity with its long side direction aligned with the main scanning direction. On the supporting member 13 , the paper P is conveyed in the sub-scanning direction Y intersecting the main scanning direction X based on the driving of the paper-feeding motor 14 provided on the lower rear surface of the frame 12 . In addition, a rod-shaped guide shaft 15 extending parallel to the longitudinal direction of the support member 13 is provided above the support member 13 in the frame 12 . The guide shaft...

Abstract

The present invention provides a liquid ejecting device capable of absorbing, from the wiping surface, the liquid adhering to the wiping surface of a liquid ejecting head having steps without residue, when the wiping surface is wiped by the liquid absorbent. The liquid ejecting device includes: a liquid ejecting head provided with a nozzle for ejecting a liquid; and a wiping unit for wiping the liquid ejecting head by relatively moving the liquid absorbing body for absorbing the liquid against the liquid ejecting head. The above-mentioned liquid jet head has a surface composed of a first region surface on which the nozzle is formed and a second region surface having a step difference and continuous with the first region surface, and this surface serves as a wiping surface to be wiped by the wiping part. In the above-mentioned wiping surface, the second region surface is a surface having lower liquid repellency to the liquid than the first region surface.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a liquid ejecting device, and in particular, to a technique for wiping liquid adhered to a liquid ejecting head. Background technique [0002] Conventionally, as a liquid ejecting device, there is known an inkjet type printer that ejects a liquid onto a medium such as paper from nozzles formed in a liquid ejecting head to form an image. Such printers are generally provided with a maintenance device for maintaining the ejection characteristics of the liquid ejected from the nozzles. [0003] For example, as such a maintenance device, there is provided a wiping unit that wipes off liquid adhering to the nozzle forming surface on which the nozzles are formed in the liquid ejecting head. The wiping part usually has a rubber wiper made of a rubber material such as an elastic body, and the rubber wiper is moved while the rubber wiper is brought into contact with the nozzle forming surface of the liquid ejection head, whereby...
