Abstract

The invention discloses a writing element for a heat assisted magnetic head sliding block. The writing element comprises an air bearing surface for a magnetic recording medium, a first magnetic pole, a second magnetic pole, a coil clamped between the first magnetic pole and the second magnetic pole, a waveguide way for guiding light produced by a light source module installed on a substrate of the heat assisted magnetic head sliding block, and a plasmon unit arranged on the first magnetic pole and nearby the waveguide way, wherein the plasmon unit is provided with a near field light producing surface for spreading near field light to the air bearing surface. The near field light producing surface of the plasmon unit is apart from the air bearing surface for a first preset distance to form a first sunken portion, and a protecting layer is filled in the first sunken portion. The writing element can prevent the plasmon unit from protruding out of the air bearing surface and accordingly improve the performance of the heat assisted magnetic head sliding block. The invention further discloses the heat assisted magnetic head sliding block, a magnetic head folding-piece assembly, a hard disk drive and a manufacturing method.
