The invention provides a method for detection of metal corrosion by terahertz time-domain spectroscopy. The method includes: measuring the terahertz time-domain spectrums of metal samples with different corrosion time, performing time frequency transformation, and establishing a relationship spectrogram of reflectivity and reaction time; measuring the terahertz time-domain spectrums of corrosion products with different components, performing time frequency transformation, and establishing a relationship spectrogram of reflectivity and the corrosion products with different components; according to the relationship spectrogram of reflectivity and reaction time and the relationship spectrogram of reflectivity and the corrosion products with different components, establishing a relation model of corrosion time and terahertz spectrum signals; measuring the terahertz time-domain spectrum of a to-be-detected sample to obtain the terahertz spectral information of a surface corresponding to the to-be-detected sample and a corrosion product; and introducing the terahertz spectrum information of the to-be-detected sample into the relation model of corrosion time and terahertz spectrum signals so as to determine the corrosion time of the to-be-detected sample.
