18929 results about "Repeatability" patented technology

Repeatability or test–retest reliability is the closeness of the agreement between the results of successive measurements of the same measure carried out under the same conditions of measurement. In other words, the measurements are taken by a single person or instrument on the same item, under the same conditions, and in a short period of time. A less-than-perfect test–retest reliability causes test–retest variability. Such variability can be caused by, for example, intra-individual variability and intra-observer variability. A measurement may be said to be repeatable when this variation is smaller than a pre-determined acceptance criterion.

Volumetric error compensation system with laser tracker and active target

A volumetric error compensation measurement system and method are disclosed wherein a laser tracker tracks an active target as the reference point. The active target has an optical retroreflector mounted at the center of two motorized gimbals to provide full 360 degree azimuth rotation of the retroreflector. A position sensitive detector is placed behind an aperture provided at the apex of the retroreflector to detect the relative orientation between the tracker laser beam and the retroreflector by measuring a small portion of the laser beam transmitted through the aperture. The detector's output is used as the feedback for the servo motors to drive the gimbals to maintain the retroreflector facing the tracker laser beam at all times. The gimbals are designed and the position of the retroreflector controlled such that the laser tracker always tracks to a pre-defined single point in the active target, which does not move in space when the gimbals and / or the retroreflector makes pure rotations. Special mechanism and alignment algorithm are used in the gimbal design and retroreflector centering alignment to achieve accurate rotational axis alignment and repeatability.

Assisted mainframe data de-duplication

Data de-duplication (“de-dupe”) offers IT organizations the opportunity to replace aging tape systems with disk-based backup solutions and minimize the storage allocated to backup and data protection. The effectiveness of de-dupe technology is extremely dependent on the data being protected. Data streams with little data repetitiveness will provide disappointing results when processed through a block-level de-dupe engine. To avoid this problem, Assisted Mainframe De-Dupe (AMDD) technology can be used to insure that filesystem block-level de-dupe products efficiently and effectively de-dupe tape backup streams received from IBM and or compatible mainframes. By pre-processing backup tape volumes before sending the data to storage, AMDD will insure that large amounts of unchanged data will line up on de-dupe block boundaries each time the data is sent to the de-dupe process engine. By providing “well-behaved” data to the de-dupe process, AMDD can significantly improve the effectiveness of de-dupe processing and substantially reduce the storage is used to backup critical mainframe DASD resources.

Variation of dose from one application to another is very unacceptable. The preferred apparatus of the invention employs a venturi configuration inventively modified which uses gas under pressure to pump exceptionally small quantities of material from a reservoir for delivery. In especially preferred embodiments of the invention, said reservoir is pressurized by at least a quantity of gas at somewhat above atmospheric. prior to the removal of any material by pumping.
