Problems solved by technology

[0006] Known SDA for AEI zeolite synthesis is relatively expensive and constitutes a major part of zeolite manufacturing costs
In addition, conventional methods for the synthesis of zeolite AEI have relatively poor yields on silica, a key component of the reaction mixture, which also affects manufacturing costs

Embodiment

[0084] Example: Synthesis of AEI Zeolite Using N,N-Dimethyl-3,5-Dimethylpiperidinium in Recycled Mother Liquor

[0085] About 36 g of dealuminated USY zeolite having a SAR of 10.7 was mixed with about 1093 g of water. For this mixture, about 195 g of N,N-dimethyl-3,5-dimethylpiperidinium templating agent and about 427 g of liquid sodium silicate (28.8 wt% SiO 2 ) slowly poured into the above mixture. The resulting mixture was then heated to 145°C in a sealed stainless steel reactor with stirring at 200 rpm. After 2 days of crystallization, the resulting crystallization mixture was transferred to a separatory funnel. Under static conditions, the solid sediment and the top clear liquid layer separated within a few hours. Most of the clear mother liquor was collected and referred to as first pass mother liquor (ML-P1).

[0086] The solid in the bottom slurry was recovered and confirmed to be AEI by XRD. Chemical analysis of the product showed that it had a SAR of 20.0. Anal...

Abstract

A novel method for synthesizing AEI zeolites is provided which results in high overall relative yields on silica and the structure directing agent.

Description

field of invention [0001] The invention relates to a method for synthesizing a molecular sieve with an AEI skeleton. The invention also relates to the unique molecular sieves produced by this method, and the use of such molecular sieves as catalysts. Background of the invention [0002] Zeolites are crystalline or quasicrystalline aluminosilicates consisting of repeating SiO 4 and AlO 4 tetrahedral units. These units link together to form a framework with regular crystalline lumens and molecular-sized channels. Several types of synthetic zeolites have been synthesized, and each has a unique framework based on a specific arrangement of its tetrahedral units. Typically, each framework type is assigned a unique three letter code (eg "AEI") by the International Zeolite Association (IZA). [0003] Zeolites have a variety of industrial applications, and certain framework zeolites, such as AEI, are known to be effective catalysts for treating combustion exhaust in industrial a...
