The method mainly comprises the steps that sources of water are judged by detecting or analyzing the content of all or several of ingredients including Na<+>, K<+>, Ca<2+>, magnesium<2+>, SO42-, Cl-, HCO3- and CO32- in water and then formulating corresponding discharge and mining methods and relevant water plugging measures according to different water production sources. Water source judgment can be assisted by conducting water sample acquisition and analysis after a coal bed gas production well reaches a stable discharge and mining stage, and accordingly appropriate discharge and mining methods are formulated. More information about a formation and a well body structure can be also obtained, and a help is provided for exploration and development of the coal bed gas well. For example, a reference can be provided for well spacing, so that faults can be effectively avoided during well spacing, the pressure of discharge and mining work can be reduced, and the number of drilled abandoned wells can be also decreased. In addition, the gas production rate of the coal bed gas well can be also predicted according to the result.
