Abstract

The invention provides a method for determining porous medium REV (representative elementary volume) on the basis of variogram function and porosity, relates to the technical field of image processingand solves the technical problem about REV determination. The method comprises steps as follows: a variogram function curve of pores of a porous medium in a three-dimensional rectangular coordinate system is drawn according to a three-dimensional structural map of the porous medium; lengths of a range of the variogram function curve on three coordinate axes are calculated according to resolutionratio of the three-dimensional structural map of the porous medium, and a cuboid template is constructed with the three lengths serving as length, width and height; the cuboid template is traversed inthe three-dimensional structural map of the porous medium, and the actual REV is determined according to difference of porosity of the porous medium contained in the cuboid template and overall porosity of the porous medium. The method can be widely applied to some engineering and science fields such as oil-gas exploration and development, geological analysis and the like.
