Problems solved by technology

Still further, some known contoured components are limited in the types of adjustment assemblies they may affect
Still further, many conventional coextrusion feedblocks are limited in their ability to control deformation as the extrudate is delivered from the feedblock into the die, which involves diffusion of the extrudate into the final film, sheet or Coating

Abstract

The invention discloses coextrusion feedblock which comprises a housing, a central extrusion channel, a coextrusion channel, a rotatable combining plane, a rotatable profile actuator, and a profiled bar mounted removably on the rotatable profile actuator. The central extrusion channel and the coextrusion channel pass through the housing. The rotatable combining plane and the rotatable profile actuator are positioned on opposite sides of the coextrusion channel so as to confront each other.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates generally to extrusion devices, and more particularly to coextrusion feedblocks. Background technique [0002] Coextrusion feedblocks are used to bring together melt streams of thermoplastic material from multiple extruders. The separate streams from different extruders are brought together in a coextrusion feedblock to form specific multilayer arrangements. The resulting multilayer extrudate stream is then conveyed to a subsequent extrusion die or another downstream tool to produce the desired composite coextruded structure. [0003] In bringing together streams of many different plastic materials, the different materials often have different properties. For example, different plastics tend to exhibit different viscosities. Variations in viscosity or other properties may adversely affect the layer uniformity of the resulting multilayer coextruded structure. To compensate for this, it is sometimes desirable to adjust ...
