The method comprises the steps that the running mode of the device is adjusted through different valve opening and closing combinations, and then the device runs in the electrical load off-peak period and in the electrical load peak period separately. According to the electric peak load regulation gas-fired cogeneration waste heat recycling device and method, thermoelectric decoupling of the gas-fired cogeneration power plant in winter is achieved, flue gas total heat is recycled on the condition that it isguaranteed that the heat supply capacity of an original heat supply network of the central urban area is invariable, the added heat is externally supplied to a newly-added heat supply area, and meanwhile the electric peak load regulation capability of the gas-fired power plant in winter is significantly improved to reduce a wind curtailment phenomenon.
