The methodcomprises the following steps: (1) detecting a chloride ion mass concentration in a COD solution which needs measuring; (2) preparing a mercury sulfate solution with multiple kinds of mass concentrations so as to enable the mass concentration of the mercury sulfate solution and the mass concentration of chloride ions to be in a gradient ratio, wherein the range of a mass ratio is (25 to 30) to 1;(3) taking 5-10ml of the solution in the step (1); (4) adding the mercury sulfate solution in the step (3) into the solution in the step (2) and carrying out complexing on chloride ions; and (5) detecting the COD in the solution in the step (4), and calculating a relative error.
