Example Embodiment

[0038] This specification describes methods and systems for using quantum computing resources to solve exchange problems such as the kidney exchange program. Provides a method to formulate the exchange problem as a quadratic unconstrained binary optimization (QUBO) problem. The quantum annealing computer can naturally solve the QUBO problem, and the gate-based general quantum computer can use the quantum approximate optimization algorithm (QAOA) to efficiently find a good approximate solution to the QUBO problem.

[0039] figure 1 An example system 100 for implementing an exchange plan is depicted. The system 100 is an example of a system implemented as a computer program on one or more classical or quantum computing devices in one or more locations, where the systems, components, and techniques described below can be implemented.

[0040] The system 100 includes an integer programming formular 104, a QUBO formular 106, a classical post-processor 108, and one or more quantum comp...

Abstract

The invention relates to quantum computation for optimization in exchange systems. Methods, systems, and apparatus for improving exchange systems. In one aspect, a method includes receiving data representing an exchange problem; determining, from the received data, an integer programming formulation of the exchange problem; mapping the integer programming formulation of the exchange problem to a quadratic unconstrained binary optimization (QUBO) formulation of the exchange problem; obtaining data representing a solution to the exchange problem from a quantum computing resource; and initiatingan action based on the obtained data representing a solution to the exchange problem.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims the benefit of the filing date of U.S. Patent Application No. 62 / 774,479, "Improved Switching System Using Quantum Computing," filed December 3, 2018, and is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety. technical field [0003] The present invention relates to quantum computing. Background technique [0004] An exchange system implements an exchange scheme in which parties in a transaction exchange resources or services directly for other resources or services without using a medium of exchange such as money. [0005] An example exchange system is a system that implements a kidney transplant exchange program. Kidney transplantation allows patients with kidney disease to replace their non-functioning kidneys with healthy kidneys from deceased or, preferably, living donors. Organ trafficking is banned and illegal in many countries, so living donors are often closely related to patients. B...
