Embodiment Construction

[0016] Modern vehicles include many electronic control units (ECUs) that communicate with each other and with the vehicle's computing system. As vehicle systems become more advanced and capable of additional functionality, the processing power required by vehicle computing systems continues to increase. Connected vehicles generate large amounts of data for various reasons, such as vehicle health, safety information, geolocation data about the environment, etc. This data can be used for many analytical decisions to improve the driving experience (including safety, infotainment, etc.). However, depending on the task (and the number of tasks), this can be computationally expensive. Additionally, at times the vehicle computing system will be overloaded with processing data requests. In some cases, subsequent features, add-ons, additions, or complex calculations may otherwise fully occupy or exceed the processing capabilities of the vehicle's computing system at any one point in ...

Abstract

The invention provides a vehicle distributed computing for additional on-demand computing processing. Systems and techniques for vehicle distributed computing of on-demand computing power. The systems and techniques described herein enable the allocation of discrete computing work requests to other vehicle systems by generating and granting smart contracts to locally located other vehicle systems that bid the smart contracts. Data for processing the request is encrypted and sent to the vehicle winning the smart contract, which processes the request and returns the completed work product. Completion of the smart contract initiates a value transfer to the processing vehicle as an incentive to the processing workload.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure generally relates to vehicle computing systems. Background technique [0002] The vehicle computing system handles numerous computational and processing loads during operation. The computing tasks performed by vehicle systems, such as infotainment, monitoring, and diagnostic processes, increase with the complexity and capabilities of such systems. Additionally, the evolution of vehicle systems has also resulted in increased application complexity, which may also result in increased computational requirements. Additional features, systems and devices incorporated into the vehicle can match or exceed the processing capabilities of the onboard computing system. Contents of the invention [0003] In some embodiments, techniques are described for distributing computations from a vehicle computing system to computer systems in other vehicles or other locations. The technology involves providing a secure means of communication and ...
