Embodiment 1

[0033] Example 1: Small scale test of the ability of three different lime products to affect the acidity and chlorine content of drinking water

[0034] Materials and methods

[0035] Add more calcium hypochlorite to drinking water provided by public water supply facilities. Then add three different lime products according to the dosage in the respective product instructions. The chlorine content and pH in the water were measured before and after 1 hour, 4 hours and 18 hours after the addition. These three lime products are provided in sealed packages and belong to MPG, Norsk Korallsand and Water Conditioner A1 (the latter being the same as the water conditioner of the present invention). Do not remove lime from water according to manufacturer's instructions.

[0036] The ingredients of the water quality improver A1 are as follows: 2.75% calcium ascorbate, 7-8% shell sand, and the rest are coralline algae.

[0037] Dosage is:

[0038] MPG: 1 pack per liter of water

example 2

[0050] Example 2: Small comparative test before and after adding water conditioner A2 to drinking water spiked with E. coli

[0051] sample

[0052]It can be clearly seen from the results that the coralline algae with the gelling agent prepared according to the present invention can significantly reduce the E. coli content in public tap water. One might think this is because after A2 was added and mixed, the bacteria got stuck in the gel and remained in the tea bag with the other undissolved ingredients. The present inventors do not wish to deny this speculation, but the result is that bacteria in water can be reduced or even eliminated after adding the gel forming agent.

Abstract

The invention pertains to coral sand, more particularly to a composition of coral algae, shell sand and ascorbate being useful as an additive for the improvement of the quality, including the taste, of drinking water, that is as a water improvement agent. The composition is as follows: 5 to 90% coral algae, 5 to 90% shell sand, 0.1 to 8% ascorbic acid salt, and it is chosen so that by the addition of 0.5 g to 1 liter of water is the mixture is emerging with a pH from 7 to 8.5. If the product in addition contains a suitable gelling agent, this entails that any bacteria formerly present, after addition of the water improvement agent according to the invention, no longer exist in the free solution.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a water quality improver, which contains a reducing agent, which can produce a weakly soluble solution after being dissolved in drinking water to improve water quality. Adding the water improver of the present invention to drinking water can quickly and efficiently remove chlorine and improve the taste of drinking water. A preferred product of the present invention also contains a gelling agent capable of sterilizing bacteria. [0002] The present invention relates to a reducing agent, which may consist of one or more other components, and can be used as an additive for improving drinking water quality, that is, a water quality improving agent. Background technique [0003] The taste and quality of drinking water are very important to human health. Every day, a large amount of tap water is directly or indirectly consumed by people in the form of aqueous nutrients. This means: Contaminated water sources can be an important so...
