Embodiment Construction

[0055] The present invention revolves around the use of multiple antennas within a base station to improve the downlink performance of a wireless communication system. It is very important that downlink beamforming is effective in situations where interference effects are limited, especially in multimedia communications. Transmit diversity is a very effective technique when receive diversity is not achievable, especially for size and / or power constrained mobile terminals. Even when receive diversity is available, it can be used to further improve downlink performance.

[0056] In a multipath propagation environment, the receiver obtains several time-delayed, amplitude-scaled, and direction-of-arrival (DOA)-dependent versions of the transmitted signal. Paths are not decomposable in the time domain when the maximum delay between the first and last arriving signal versions along each path is less than the symbol interval. However, since they come from different DOAs, these path...

Abstract

The present invention is the method and equipment for obtaining beam and sending diversity for selective frequency fading channel inside the communication system with base station possessing multiple emitting antennas and at least one single-receiving antenna mobile station. The method includes following steps: time space coding signal to be send to form two single output signals; feeding the signals to multi-access sending processor to form output signals; forming weight values of the output signals; adding the weighed signals in the signal merger to form the sent signal; sending the signal via the multiple emitting antennas and physical channels; receiving the signal in at least one single-receiving antenna; creating output signal in a multi-access receiving processor; and time space coding the received signal.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates generally to wireless communication systems, and more particularly to improving downlink performance of wireless communication systems. Background technique [0002] Wireless mobile communications suffer from four major impairments: path loss, multipath fading, intersymbol interference (ISI), and co-channel interference. Adaptive antennas can be used to suppress the effects of these factors to improve the performance of wireless communication systems. There are two types of adaptive antennas: diversity antennas and beamforming antennas. In a diversity antenna system, in order to compensate for multipath fading, it is necessary to obtain multiple low-correlation or independent fading channels to obtain diversity gain. Beamforming antennas, on the other hand, provide beamforming gain by exploiting spatial directivity, which compensates path loss to some extent and suppresses co-channel interference. [0003] In a diversit...
