no. 2 Embodiment

[0043] D. The third embodiment

[0044] E. Modified example: A. The composition of the device:

[0045] FIG. 1 shows a configuration diagram of a printing system as an embodiment of the present invention. This printing system includes a computer 90 as a printing control device, and a color printer 20 as a printing unit. Furthermore, a combination of the color printer 20 and the computer 90 constitutes a broad sense of [printing device].

[0046] In the computer 90, under a given operating system, an application program 95 is started. The operating system includes a video driver 94 , a printer driver 96 , and an application program 95 , and outputs print data PD to be sent to the color printer 20 via these drivers. The application program 95 performs necessary processing on the image to be processed, and displays the image on the CRT 24 via the video driver 94 .

[0047] When the application program 95 issues a print command, the printer driver 96 of the computer 90 receive...

no. 3 Embodiment

[0089] Fig. 15 and Fig. 16 show the relation of the thin pattern of the selected print mode parameter in the third embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 15 differs from the table of the second embodiment shown in FIG. 12 in that ink types are added as print mode parameters. In this embodiment, unlike the second embodiment in which only dye inks can be used as ink types, pigment inks can be used.

[0090] FIG. 14 shows that, in this embodiment, a selection path of pigment ink as an ink type is added relative to FIG. 12 . As a result, in the second embodiment, after the type of printing medium and the printing resolution are determined, any one of the patterns shown in FIGS. 10 and 13 is selected, and in this embodiment, the thinner pattern is further selected according to the type of ink. Specifically, when the type of ink is dye ink, any one of the figures shown in FIGS. 10 and 13 is selected, while for pigment ink, any one of the figures shown in FIG. 16 is selected. In...

Abstract

As a method of reducing an amount of ink of an ink dot for forming a contour portion of a specific image region consisting of a pixel group formed by ink dots in a specific kind is determined corresponding to a printing mode, it is possible to reduce the amount of ink at the contour portion of an image to be printed by a method suitable for a printing environment. As a result, a desired thinning operation which is hard to generate bleeding or white- out is performed corresponding to the printing environment, thereby representing the clear contour portion.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a technique for printing images on printing media in an inkjet manner. Background technique [0002] Inkjet printers, which form ink dot print images on a printing medium by ejecting ink, have been widely used as output devices for outputting images created by computers and the like. [0003] When printing line drawings such as text or illustrations with an inkjet printer, ink bleeding may occur on the outline of the line drawings. Such ink bleed is caused by the fact that the ink ejected to the line drawing area is not completely absorbed by the printing medium, resulting in ink stagnation, and as a result, it flows out to the area where ink dots do not need to be formed. For such ink outflow, it has been proposed to form a certain dot thinning in the contour portion. [0004] However, the suitable method of dot thinning will vary with the printing resolution and printing environment. For example, when the resolutio...
