As the cover is removable for complete cleaning, it can be made of elastomeric or glued plastic or provided with protrusions to improve the user's grip on the handle when in use. Such thorough cleaning without a removable cover can lead to water ingress and damage to the moving parts of the electric toothbrush. The cover can also have a large surface area so that it can significantly identify the owner of the toothbrush.
