Embodiment Construction

[0015] Referring to FIG. 1 , an elevator system 11 is shown schematically and includes an elevator car 15 movable along guide rails 12 within a shaft 17 . Rail 12 is secured to structure 16 within wall 14 of shaft 17 by mounting bracket assembly 10 .

[0016] Referring to Figures 2-5, a portion of a shaft 17 is shown and includes shaft walls 14 and several structures 16 comprising conventional beams in one example. The mounting bracket assembly 10 clamps onto the flange portion 38 of the rail 12 to hold the rail 12 in a desired, aligned position. Each mounting bracket assembly 10 includes first and second clips 20A, 20B secured to the base 18 by at least one fastener 50 . The base 18 is connected to the structure 16 within the shaft wall 14 . The base 18 can be attached to any fixed structure within the shaft 17 to secure the guide rails 12 in an aligned position.

[0017] The first and second clips 20A, 20B are secured to each other to clamp the flange portion 38 of the ra...

Abstract

A mounting bracket for a guide rail includes first and second clips secured to a mount. The first and second clips establish a clamping dimension when they are received about a flange of the guide rail. The mount secures to a hoistway wall. A bolt and nut adjustably secure the clips in a spaced relationship to each other around the flange Adjustment of the clamping distance provides for mounting various sized guide rails with a common sized mounting bracket. The clips are also selectively moveable relative to the mount to facilitate plumbing the guide rail within the hoistway.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention generally relates to a mounting assembly for mounting an elevator or counterweight guide rail in a shaft. Background technique [0002] Typically, elevator systems include guide rails installed in the shaft for guiding the elevator car and counterweight as it moves between floors of a building. Rails are fastened to shaft walls or structural beams by means of mounting brackets. The mounting brackets are spaced relative to each other at a spaced distance formed along the rail to support the rail and provide a sufficiently rigid mount. [0003] Rails are typically T-beams with flanged portions fastened to mounting brackets fastened to a wall or structural beam. The mounting brackets typically include Z-shaped track clips that overlap the portion of the track within the shaft that is secured to a wall or another structural beam. The mounting bracket and two rails fasten, block and clamp the flanged portion of the rails within the ...
