Problems solved by technology

[0007] Construction can also lead to waste of materials
For example, when working with lumber, standard off-the-shelf lengths of lumber must often be cut to fit the design, which leads to waste
[0008] Construction by hand is also time consuming, taking months and in some cases years to complete
[0009] building is dangerous

Embodiment Construction

[0046] Figure 1 shows an embodiment of a nozzle assembly comprising a single nozzle. As shown in FIG. 1 , nozzle assembly 101 may include nozzle 103 having outlet 105 (not visible in FIG. 1 ), blade 107 , and blade positioning controls including servo motor 109 and blade linkages 111 and 113 .

[0047] Although shown as cylindrical, the shape of the nozzle 103 can vary. It may comprise an inlet 115 for material in fluid or semi-fluid form.

[0048] The cross-section of the outlet 105 can vary. It can be circular, rectangular or other shapes.

[0049] Figure 2 shows the embodiment of the nozzle assembly shown in Figure 1 being used to extrude a wall. As shown in FIG. 2 , the nozzle assembly 101 extrudes a layer of material 203 while moving in a horizontal direction 205 . The spatula 107 smoothes the outer surface of the layer of material 203 as the material 203 is extruded from the nozzle 103 . The lower surface 205 of the part supporting the nozzle 103 has openings (not s...

Abstract

A multi-nozzle assembly may include a first nozzle configured to extrude material through a first outlet; a second nozzle configured to extrude material through a second outlet; and a third nozzle configured to extrude material through a third outlet, the third outlet being between the first and second outlets. Related construction processes and wall structures are also disclosed.

Description

[0001] Government interest in this application [0002] This invention was made with Government support under NSF Grant No. 9634962 and NSF Grant No. 9522982 awarded by the United States Government. The government has certain rights in this invention. technical field [0003] This invention relates to the construction of structures, including the construction of walls and roofs. The invention also relates to extrusion of materials. Background technique [0004] The construction of homes, offices, boats and other structures has an ancient tradition. But despite centuries of development, there are still various difficulties and problems. [0005] Building is often labor-intensive work. Even ordinary-sized structures usually require the effort of many people. This can be costly. It is also challenging to utilize the time of so many people in an efficient manner at the same time. [0006] The results of construction labor can be inconsistent. One structure may differ in ...
