Abstract

The invention relates to a traffic information inquiry and VOD system and method that faces the Smartphone, the system comprises a background traffic information grid, a Smartphone client terminal and a wireless communication network. The system provides local service which organizes, requests, transfers and stores the vector map data at the Smartphone terminal, so as to realize local service request; the system further provides background service that the Smartphone terminal realizes real-time communication with the background server terminal via the wireless communication network and requests dynamic traffic information; the background traffic information grid server responses to the request, processes and sends data; the Smartphone terminal receives the dynamic road condition data, draws a map reflecting the variation of the dynamic road condition according to the road condition data, and finishes the background service VOD such as dynamic (static) shortest path, dynamic road condition exhibition and parking lots inquiry. The beneficial effects of the invention are that rich real-time, dynamic traffic information inquiry and VOD service are provided for the users on the Smartphone, favorable man-machine interface is realized and the operation is simple and convenient.
