Embodiment Construction

[0050] The compositions of the present invention are usually in the form of sprays for use with conventional steam irons. The compositions are generally aqueous.

[0051] Nanoparticles

[0052] The compositions of the invention comprise nanoparticle dispersions. The microparticles can be inorganic or organic nanoparticles or a mixture of one or more nanoparticles.

[0053] Suitable inorganic nanoparticles include silicon dioxide (SiO 2 ), titanium dioxide (TiO 2 ), alumina (Al 2 o 3), zinc oxide (ZnO) and mixed oxides such as ITO (indium tin oxide, In 2 o 3 -SnO 2 ).

[0054] A readily available and preferred inorganic nanoparticle is amorphous silica available in sol or colloid form, as defined in The Chemistry of Silica, R K Iler, Wiley-Interscience, New York, 1979, page 330.

[0055] Silica nanoparticles can also be non-siliceous cores, as long as the surface of the nanoparticles is coated with silica, as described on page 330 of Iler's book. The core can be of o...

Abstract

An ironing aid fabric treatment composition comprising: a) a nanoparticle dispersion comprising particles having an average particle size in the range 5 to 500nm, b) a lubricant phase comprising a lubricant selected from silicone oil, sucrose polyester oil and mixtures thereof, and c) water wherein the weight ratio of a) : b) is in the range 4 : 1 to 1: 4. with the proviso that when the colloidal nanoparticle dispersion comprises a silicone resin the composition is not delivered through an iron.

Description

field of invention [0001] The present invention relates to fabric care compositions. More particularly, the present invention relates to fabric care compositions for ironing which reduce fabric wrinkling, especially dry or wear wrinkling, giving fabrics an all day ironed look. Background of the invention [0002] Fabric care compositions that reduce wrinkling of worn fabrics are known. [0003] Mechanical wrinkle reduction techniques, such as heat and pressure (such as ironing), are effective ways to flatten garments. However, due to the range of shear, torsion and compression deformation forces applied during wearing, the effect is not durable and the wrinkles reappear. Body temperature and humidity act on the fabric to relax it and thus accentuate the wrinkling of these deforming forces. [0004] Existing anti-wrinkle technologies can be interpreted into three approaches: [0005] (a) improving recovery from wrinkles with lubricants, [0006] (b) stiffening the fibers...
