4689 results about "Wrinkle" patented technology

A wrinkle, also known as a rhytide, is a fold, ridge or crease in otherwise smooth surface, such as on skin or fabric. Skin wrinkles typically appear as a result of aging processes such as glycation, habitual sleeping positions, loss of body mass, sun damage, or temporarily, as the result of prolonged immersion in water. Age wrinkling in the skin is promoted by habitual facial expressions, aging, sun damage, smoking, poor hydration, and various other factors. In humans, it can also be prevented to some degree by avoiding excessive solar exposure and through diet (in particular through consumption of carotenoids, tocophenols and flavonoids, vitamins (A, C, D and E), essential omega-3-fatty acids, certain proteins and lactobacilli.

Method for manufacture of minimum porosity, wrinkle free composite parts

A process and associated apparatus used to prepare a thermoplastic composite from a plurality of plies of thermoplastic resin prepregs. The prepregs are formed into a composite structure under two chambers; a rigid outer chamber (of any convenient size or shape) and a second flexible inner chamber containing a prepreg lay-up. The absolute pressures are reduced concurrently in a stepwise method in both chambers. This concurrent, stepped pressure reduction is accomplished at a rate which prevents the vacuum bag from moving far from the prepregs, and prevents wrinkles from forming in the prepregs. Pinching off the diffusion paths required for the removal of unwanted gases is eliminated. The lay-up is then heated and the absolute pressure in the outer rigid chamber is increased. This pressure constrains the flexible inner chamber during out-gassing of the thermoplastic resin, preventing wrinkles from forming in the prepregs. The absolute pressure in the outer rigid chamber is increased to atmospheric pressure or greater causing the prepregs to consolidate. A low absolute pressure is maintained in the flexible inner chamber. The temperature is then increased to the cure temperature of the resin and held for a time sufficient for the resin to cure. The resulting consolidated thermoplastic resin is substantially void free and detectable wrinkles are absent.

Methods for improving the performance of fabric wrinkle control compositions

The present invention provides methods for improving the performance of a consumer wrinkle control composition by making the composition available to the consumer and providing information to the consumer concerning the use of the composition to control wrinkles in fabrics without the application of heat. Information may be provided by teaching educational elements and disseminating educational elements to consumers in an efficient, effective, and affordable manner as well as techniques for heightening consumer awareness of the product. The information that is provided to the consumer may concerns the use of the composition to remove or control wrinkles in fabrics without the application of heat, instructions for the proper use of the product, the product's effectiveness, the appearance of the fabric in the finished state after treatment, how the product can be incorporated into the consumer's everyday habits and lifestyles, additional non-wrinkle related benefits that may be achieved with the product and how the composition can be effectively and safely used by most members of the consumer's household. Also provided are methods for prolonging or extending the useful life of fabric items that require frequent and repeated laundering processes and that are prone to cause incremental damage to fabric fibers. The useful life of such fabric items is prolonged by enabling the item to be revitalized or renewed for rewear without laundering, thus reducing the number of launderings and the resulting damage to fabric fibers over a given period of time.

Methods and Apparatus for Personal Care

Methods, apparatus and systems for personal care, such as treatment of a skin or hair treatment surface, are disclosed. In some embodiments, a base device is configured to thermally modify (heat or cool) an applicator on a hand piece that can then be used to cleanse, treat and/or otherwise rejuvenate the treatment surface. The applicator can be formulated with a smooth or abrasive material that can absorb, be coated with or otherwise take up a variety of materials, such as liquids, lotions, gels or creams, which are suitable for application to the treatment surface. The base device may thermally modify the material that is then coupled to the applicator and applied to the treatment surface during treatment. Application of the applicator at the desired temperature to the treatment surface may, for example, stimulate deeper blood circulation, clear pores, diminishes or removes deep and fine wrinkles, accelerate acne clearing, treat blemished skin, decrease edema and erythema of the skin, and/or reduce puritis of various etiologies. The hand piece may comprise one or more secondary treatment elements, such as LEDs for photoactivation, electrodes for delivery of micro-currents or vibrating elements for rubbing or abraiding, in order to achieve additional activation of the treatment surface and/or of the thermally modified material coupled to the applicator, which may enhance or improve treatment.
