An online system provides for the teaching and learning of step by step solutions to STEM problems. The system comprises at least one tablet computer linked to at least one computer readable storage medium by a communication network. The computer includes an input device and a touch sensitive screen for receiving and displaying handwritten input. A system user inputs the computer with the steps of a step by step solution to a STEM problem by handwriting math expressions and sketches on the touch sensitive screen. The system evaluates and automatically color codes each step in accordance with a color coding protocol stored in the computer readable storage medium as each step is entered into the system. The color coding provides visual feedback which identifies correct steps, erroneous steps, and intermediate steps in the solution. Teachers use the feedback when teaching STEM solutions and students use the feedback when they are practicing and assessing their own solutions.

A protected midspan power sourcing equipment for a local area network communications system includes a network connection subsystem that is connectable to at least one first network cable having a plurality of electrical wires, and a powered equipment connection subsystem that is connectable to at least one second network cable also having a plurality of electrical wires. The at least one second network cable is commumncatable with a powered end station of the LAN communications system and provides power signals and voice and data signals to the powered end station. A power source is connected to the second network cable and the powered equipment connection subsystem and generates the power signal that is provided on the at least one second network cable to the powered end station. Electrical surge protectors in the midspan power sourcing equipment are connected to the powered equipment connection subsystem and the at least one second network cable and provide electrical surge protection for the powered end station.

A system for transmitting video signals from multiple video cameras over one or more multiple pair, twisted pair cables includes several video cameras and a plurality of twisted pair-to-coax balun “T” devices connected to the video cameras by coaxial cables. The main body has at least a first lateral side and a second lateral side. Each slot is situated on either the first lateral side or the second lateral side of the main body inbetween either adjacent male connectors or adjacent female receptacles. The present invention is for crosslinked membranes and in particular for crosslinked poly(ethylene oxide)-cellulose acetate-silsesquioxane (PEO-CA-Si) organic-inorganic hybrid membranes and their use in gas separation. These crosslinked PEO-CA-Si membranes were prepared by in-situ sol-gel co-condensation of crosslinkable PEO-organotrialkoxysilane and CA-organotrialkoxysilane polymers in the presence of acetic acid catalyst during the formation of membranes. The crosslinkable PEO- and CA-organotrialkoxysilane polymers were synthesized via the reaction between the hydroxyl groups on PEO (or on CA) and the isocyanate on organotrialkoxysilane to form urethane linkages under mild conditions. The crosslinked PEO-CA-Si membranes exhibited both increased selectivity of CO₂/N₂ and CO₂ permeability as compared to a CA membrane, suggesting that these membranes are very promising for gas separations such as CO₂/N₂ separation.

A second microphone is situated away from the first microphone. A radio frequency (RF) transmitter and receiver circuit is electrically connected to the second microphone and to the speaker. An antenna is connected to the RF transmitter and receiver circuit. The user's voice is detected by the second microphone and transmitted by the RF transmitter and receiver circuit, through the antenna, to an external electronic device. Signals from the external electronic device are received by the antenna and processed by the RF transmitter and receiver circuit, and are emitted as sound through the speaker for the user to hear.

A video surveillance system includes a first combiner, and a monitor, a power source and a camera control unit, each of which is electrically coupled to the first combiner. A regulated combiner located remotely from the first combiner and being electrically connected to the first combiner with at least one twisted pair of wires includes a voltage regulator which provides a regulated voltage to the camera located remotely from the first combiner. The camera is operable at a predetermined voltage level. The power supply provides an increased voltage to the regulated combiner through the first combiner and the twisted pair of wires to compensate for IR losses in the twisted pair of wires. Thus, the regulated combiner reduces the increased voltage to a safe level for the CCTV camera and other devices on a network to operate properly. The system dramatically increases the distance that a power supply can be located from where the camera is located, which decreases installation costs for CCTV surveillance systems.
