no. 1 Embodiment approach

[0092] figure 1 It is a system configuration diagram of the map data distribution system according to the first embodiment of the present invention.

[0093] The map data distribution system according to the first embodiment of the present invention includes a map distribution server 11 and an in-vehicle device 12 . The map distribution server 11 and the vehicle-mounted device 12 are connected via a network 120 . The map distribution server 11 distributes map data to the vehicle-mounted device 12 . The in-vehicle device 12 receives and stores the distributed map data. The map information is displayed using the stored map data, and the navigation function is executed according to instructions from the user.

[0094] The map distribution server 11 includes an arithmetic processing device 110 , an input and output device 111 , a storage device 112 and a communication device 113 .

[0095] The arithmetic processing device 110 includes a CPU 105 and a memory 106 . CPU 105 proc...

no. 2 Embodiment approach

[0221] In the first embodiment of the present invention, the updated data is stored in the updated data storage unit, but in the second embodiment of the present invention, the updated data is also stored in the database.

[0222] The configuration of the map data distribution system according to the second embodiment of the present invention is the same as that of the map data distribution system according to the first embodiment. Description of the same structure and the same processing will be omitted.

[0223] Figure 19 It is a diagram showing an example of a table stored in a database according to the second embodiment of the present invention. Figure 19 A road name table 1901 , an updated road name table 1902 , an area data table 1903 , and an updated area data table 1904 are shown in .

[0224] The road name table 1901 includes columns of area ID, link ID, and name data. The name data column holds the name data of each road. In addition, the updated road name tabl...

no. 3 Embodiment approach

[0236] In the first embodiment and the second embodiment of the present invention, the link data and node data are stored in a compressed form in the area data table, while in the third embodiment, the road data is stored as a link or each node. item record to save the data.

[0237] Figure 21 It is a figure which shows an example of the node data table 2101 and the link data table 2102 of 3rd Embodiment of this invention.

[0238] The information stored in the node data table 2101 and the link data table 2102 is the same as that in the first and second embodiments of the present invention. In this way, by saving the data in the form of a table, the requested data can be retrieved using the search function of the DBMS.

[0239] Figure 22 It is a figure which shows the table which stores the updated data of 3rd Embodiment of this invention.

[0240] When node data and link data are managed as one record of a table like the third embodiment of the present invention, a tabl...

Abstract

The invention provides a map data distribution system and a map data updating method. In a navigation system, stop time of navigation function when updating the map data is reduced. The map data distribution system includes a server which distributes map data and a mobile terminal which receives the map data. The server stores, for each area, the difference data between pieces of map data obtained before and after updated, and sends the difference data of map data of an area requested by the mobile terminal to the mobile terminal. The mobile terminal includes a database for storing map data and an updated-data store part for storing updated map data, generates updated data by using the received difference data, stores the updated data in the updated-data store part and then in the database. In order to fetch map data while the updated data are being stored from the updated-data store part to the database, when the map data to be fetched are stored in the updated-data store part, the mobile terminal fetches the map data from the updated-data store part.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a technique for updating map data stored on a mobile terminal. Background technique [0002] In a navigation system, when a part of the map data stored on the server side is updated, if only the map data within the changing range of a part of the area is updated on the mobile terminal side, an appropriate navigation function may not be performed. For example, when roads are newly constructed in an area to be updated, roads included in areas where the map data has been updated may not be connected to roads included in areas where the map data has not been updated and are adjacent to the area to be updated. In order to solve such a problem, a technique has been disclosed that ensures road connectivity by expanding the update area to areas connected to existing roads along changed roads (see Patent Document 1). [0003] In addition, there is a problem that if the change information is to be reflected on the map data of th...
