Abstract

The method comprises the following steps of: receiving a location request message sent by a mobile switching center (MSC) by the base station controller (BSC); acquiring an uplink time difference of arrival (U-TDOA) location type indication; selecting a base transceiver station (BTS) / a location measure unit (LMU) for a time of arrival (TOA) measurement required for U-TDOA location; sending a TOA measurement-executing massage to the selected BTS / LMU so that the selected BTS / LMU measures a target terminal to obtain a measuring result and returns the measuring result; receiving the measuring result returned by the selected BTS / LMU; performing a location computation according to the measuring result to obtain position information of the target terminal; and sending a location response message to the MSC, wherein the location response message carries the position information of the target terminal.
