The method comprises the following steps of: putting Chinese medicines into a medicinal bottle; putting the medicinal bottle on a chain of a machine frame; inputting a medicine taking instruction intp a computer, and controlling the motion of the chain, so that the medicinal bottle rotates to a discharging mechanism; pushing a medicine loading cup to a transmission belt by a cup loading assembly, and transmitting the medicine loading cup to a medicine receiving position by a material receiving frame and the motion of the transmission belt; rotating a bottle cap by the discharging mechanism to take the medicines out; and transmitting the medicine loading cup to a sealing machine for sealing by the transmission belt, and taking the medicine loading cup out. The automatic dispensing machine comprises a base, the machine frame, the sealing machine, the medicinal bottle, the discharging mechanism, a material receiving mechanism and the cup loading assembly, wherein the upper surface of the base is connected with the machine frame and the material receiving mechanism; the lateral surface of the material receiving mechanism is connected with the cup loading assembly; and the lateral surface of the machine frame is connected with the vertical discharging mechanism, and the sealing machine is fixedly arranged at the top end of the lateral surface of the machine frame.
