Alternative versions of the rear one-piece enclosure, (30A) and (30B), described herein, allow for attachment directly to power rotary tools without flex rotor shafts. Pill bottle opener

An opener for several different types of pill bottle caps and closures. In the preferred embodiment, the opener is molded as one piece of strong, flexible plastic material that can be repeatedly bent without failing. The opener has the shape of an arch, with a thin section at the top of this arch that acts as a hinge and return spring for the two legs of the arch, which are thicker in section and act as handles to react the forces applied by the user's band. The inside of each handle has a curved surface with teeth on its inside face to grip the outside of a bottle cap. The inside surface of each handle also has a triangular shaped lug that applies a downward force on the top of a bottle cap, and also applies an upward wedge force to pry a bottle cap free. At the bottom of each handle is a second curved surface, as viewed from below, which also has teeth for gripping the outside of a bottle cap. The side of each handle has a thin section blade which can cut and pry loose the seals on pill bottles, as well as pull the cotton packing from pill bottles.

Opener and stopper for crimped and threaded bottle caps

A combined bottle opener and stopper comprises a metal plate with side edges bent downward and inwardly. Opening is performed with the use of a conventional pry off method. Opened bottles are closed with a rubber pad attached to the bottom of a recess on the inner face of the plate. The opener-stopper has three bent edges which have different heights with the difference corresponding to the pitch of the thread on a threaded bottle neck. For temporary closing the bottle, i.e., with beer or carbonated water, the device is screwed onto the threaded bottle neck as a nut until the rubber pad is tightly pressed to the upper face of the bottle to hermetically close the latter. For closing bottles with nonthreaded bottle necks, the device is moved onto the bottle neck by guiding the convergent bent edges over the neck in a direction transverse to the bottle's axis until the device is fixed tightly on the bottle due to convergence of the bent edges with the rubber pad, thereby to seal the bottle's opening. The device is also provided with sharp edges for cutting plastic wrappings around the bottle neck and with an opener for metal cans openable by pulling up a tongue connected to a scored can cover.

Cap opening system and method for opening cap

A cap opening system which can handle various containers having caps and container bodies of different sizes is disclosed. In this system, when a cap of a container is to be opened, a container body of the container is gripped by a container body holding apparatus to raise the container body upward. A top surface of the cap is detected as a reference surface when the cap interrupts an optical beam. Based on the height of the reference surface, the cap is positioned with respect to the cap handling apparatus. Alternatively, a cap receiving member is provided underneath the cap handling apparatus to perform positioning of the cap with respect to the cap handling apparatus.

A capper / de-capper system 1 has a rack support 10 for supporting a rack 11 containing a plurality of capped tubes 31 in a given position. A head unit 12 supports a two-dimensional array of capping / de-capping spindles 13, each of which includes a clutch 133 and a capping / de-capping spigot 131 or socket, the spindles being aligned with the tube positions defined in the rack. A drive mechanism 108 moves the tubes and the head unit relatively towards and away from one another in use, when a rack containing capped tubes is disposed in the rack support, causing engagement and disengagement of the capping / de-capping spigots or sockets with and from the tube caps 32. A spindle drive system 15-22 provides simultaneous rotation of the capping / de-capping spigots or sockets together after engagement with the caps, either to detach caps from the tubes or attach caps to the tubes.

The device includes a housing. The housing can represent various decorative forms of headgear. The housing includes a bottle cap remover and bottle retainer. For twist-off caps, a twist-off bottle cap remover can be provided that includes a cup-like guide member that can receive the cap of a beverage container. Ridges formed on and projecting outward from the surface of the cup-like guide member's inner circumference can be received by indentations between ridges typically found on the outer circumference of beverage container caps (e.g., bottle caps). By twisting the guide member, the twist-off cap becomes loosened for easy removal. The housing provides a user with the necessary leverage to facilitate application of twisting torque onto a twist-off bottle cap, or leverage necessary to pull a pop-off cap off of a bottle or cause a can-tab to perforate the upper surface of a can. The device can include at least one bottle cap opener (e.g. twist-off or pop-off) and a lift tab opener for standard soda can. The bottle retainer can be integrated within the decorative housing, should be formed of a flexible material that will enable the device to be retained at the neck of an opened beverage bottle, thereby enabling cover for an opened bottle.
