8791 results about "Inoculation" patented technology

The terms inoculation, vaccination, and immunization are often used synonymously to refer to artificial induction of immunity against various infectious diseases. However, there are some important historical and current differences. In English medicine, inoculation referred only to the practice of variolation until the very early 1800s. When Edward Jenner introduced smallpox vaccine in 1798, this was initially called cowpox inoculation or vaccine inoculation. Soon, to avoid confusion, smallpox inoculation continued to be referred to as variolation (from Variola = smallpox) and cowpox inoculation was referred to as vaccination (from Jenner's use of variolae vaccinae = smallpox of the cow). Then, in 1891, Louis Pasteur proposed that the terms vaccine and vaccination should be extended to include the new protective procedures being developed. Immunization refers to the use of all vaccines but also extends to the use of antitoxin, which contains preformed antibody such as to diphtheria or tetanus exotoxins. Inoculation is now more or less synonymous in nontechnical usage with injection and the like, and questions along the lines of "Have you had your flu injection/vaccination/inoculation/immunization?" should not cause confusion. The focus is on what is being given and why, not the literal meaning of the technique used.

Reduction of porcine circovirus-2 viral load with inactivated PCV-2

Porcine circovirus-2 (PCV-2) is a recently identified agent wherein the potential spectrum of PCV-2-associated disease has been expanded by evidence of vertical and sexual transmission and associated reproductive failure in swine populations. PCV-2 was isolated from a litter of aborted piglets from a farm experiencing late term abortions and stillbirths. Severe, diffuse myocarditis was present in one piglet associated with extensive immunohistochemical staining for PCV-2 antigen. Variable amounts of PCV-2 antigen were also present in liver, lung and kidney of multiple fetuses. Inoculation of female pigs with a composition including an immunogen from PCV-2 or an epitope of interest from such an immunogen or with a vector expressing such an immunogen or epitope of interest prior to breeding, such as within the first five weeks of life, or prior to the perinatal period, or repeatedly over a lifetime, or during pregnancy, such as between the 6th and 8th and/or the 10th and 13th weeks of gestation, can prevent myocarditis, abortion and intrauterine infection associated with porcine circovirus-2. In addition, innoculation of male and/or female pigs with the aforementioned compositions can be carried out to prevent transmission of PCV-2 from male to female (or vice versa) during mating. Thus, the invention involves methods and compositions for preventing myocarditis, abortion and intrauterine infection associated with porcine circovirus-2.

The invention discloses a method for cultivating wood-rotting fungi. The raw materials for cultivating the wood-rotting fungi comprise the following components of: 45-55 parts of cotton stalk crumb, 8-20 parts of fine sawdust, 8-20 parts of corncob, 5-20 parts of bran coat, 4-7 parts of bean dregs, 5-11 parts of pure chicken manure, 0.5-1.5 parts of phosphate fertilizer, 0.5-1.5 parts of plaster, 1-5 parts of lime and 8-20 parts of cotton seed hull. The raw materials in weigh ratio are cultivated to generate the wood-rotting fungi according to the steps of adding water in the raw materials and uniformly stirring, building pile and fermenting, producing an inoculation bacterial bag and generating mushroom. According to the method disclosed by the invention, the consumption of the cotton seed hull is reduced; and cotton straws are used to replace the cotton seed hulls and are simultaneously matched with the fine sawdust and the corncob to produce a cultivation raw material of the wood-rotting fungi. The method has the characteristics of ensuring quick material consumption by hypha during fingi fermentation, robust growth and white and density, compact produced fruiting body and rounding mushroom shape. According to the method, the labor and time are saved, the cost is reduced and the yield is increased.

Large-scaled culture method of high-concentration nitrosobacteria and application thereof

The invention discloses a large-scaled culture method of high-concentration nitrosobacteria and application thereof. The method comprises the following steps of: (1) adding an enrichment culture solution with initial ammonia nitrogen mass concentration of 30-500mg/L in a reaction device with functions of stirring, heating and aeration; preparing activated sludge of a waste water treatment plant in activated sludge of 0.5-20% for primary inoculation to conduct the enrichment culture of the nitrosobacteria by 2-6d as a culture cycle, wherein extra ammonium salts and a growth promoter are added during the enrichment culture of the nitrosobacteria; (2) ending the culture when the concentration of NO2-N in the solution is accumulated to reach 70-95% of the concentration of total nitrogen; adding a flocculating agent for flocculation and sedimentation; and allowing to stand still to remove supernate, and then adding the enrichment culture solution to start the culture of the second cycle; and (3) continuously conducting 3-8 cycles of the enrichment culture to obtain the high-concentration nitrosobacteria. By adopting the nitrosobacteria to strengthen the bi-nitrification treatment of ammonia nitrogen contained waste water, the method has the advantages of high stress resistance, low cost and high efficiency and is suitable for the complicated treatment of ammonia nitrogen contained industrial waste water.

Smelting method for medium-thin wall cast-state nickel-free low-temperature ductile cast iron

The invention relates to a smelting method for medium-thin wall cast-state nickel-free low-temperature ductile cast iron. The medium-thin wall cast-state nickel-free low-temperature ductile cast iron comprises the following chemical components in percentage by mass: 3.5-4.1 percent of C, 1.7-2.2 percent of Si, 0.10-0.25 percent of Mn, not more than 0.035 percent of P, not more than 0.020 percent of S, 0.015-0.030 percent of Re, 0.025-0.045 percent of Mg, 0-0.20percent of Cu, less than 0.1 percent of residual element, and Fe in balancing amount. The medium-thin wall cast-state nickel-free low-temperature ductile cast iron is obtained by mixing furnace materials and carrying out high-temperature smelting in an intermediate-frequency furnace, modularization and inoculation treatment and casting and heat-insulating treatment on the mixed furnace materials. Cast iron products obtained by adopting the smelting method disclosed by the invention obtain normal-temperature mechanical property and low-temperature mechanical property under the cast state conditions; complex medium-thin wall parts are required to be subjected to low-temperature stress relief annealing; and simple medium-thin wall parts are free from being annealed, so that the production cost is greatly reduced, the production period is greatly shortened and the production efficiency is increased.
