Embodiment Construction

[0014] The handle 1 of the knife has a metal shank 2 integrally formed on a metal blade, and the shank as a flat iron is covered by two plastic handle shells 3 correspondingly on both sides. Here, the shank 2 can be visible on both sides of the handle, or it can also be covered by the handle shell there, making the shank invisible.

[0015] The plastic of the handle 1 and thus the handle shell 3 forms a cylindrical opening 4 in the form of a hole at the end of the handle, into which a metal pin 5 of a metal end cap 6 is form-fittingly inserted, wherein the pin 5 is integrally formed on the end cap and the end cap 6 covers the plastic at the end of the handle. Here, the outer diameter of the cylindrical pin 5 corresponds to the inner diameter of the opening 4 so that the pin 5 is inserted into the opening 4 in a form-locking manner, in particular a friction-locking manner.

[0016] The end of the pin 5 facing the shank 2 has a recess 7 which bridges the shank 2 in a form-locking ma...

Abstract

The knife has a metal blade comprising an integral tang (2) that is formed as a flat bar to carry a plastic handle (1). An end of the handle defines a cylindrical aperture (4) surrounding an end of the tang. A metal end cap (6) is attached at the handle end to positively fit an integrally formed plug (5) in the aperture. An end of the plug facing the tang end defines a cylindrical recess (7) in which the plug encloses the tang end in a positive-fit manner. Outside diameter of the plug is equal to or smaller than inner diameter of the aperture. An independent claim is also included for a method for fixing a metal end cap in a plastic aperture at a handle end of a knife.

Description

Technical field [0001] The invention relates to a knife with a metal blade and a shank (Erl) integrally formed on the blade. The shank serves as a flat iron to support a handle made of plastic, wherein a metal is fixed on the end of the handle End cap. Background technique [0002] The metal end cap of the known knife handle is manufactured by forging the end cap on the shank. Alternatively, it is known that the metal end cap is manufactured as a casting and welded to the end of the shank. Both manufacturing methods are labor intensive in manufacturing and fixing. Summary of the invention [0003] The object of the present invention is to fasten the metal end cap in a simple and reliable manner in a knife of the type mentioned at the beginning, in particular to install it reliably and reproducibly, and to enable rapid further processing of the knife. The precise rotational position of the end cap should also be ensured. [0004] According to the present invention, this task is s...
