Abstract

Extrusion die with edge system and method of use thereof. The present invention relates to an extrusion system comprising an extrusion die and an edge system. In one embodiment, the edging system includes a siding bar and a cam member operatively connected to the siding bar. A cam controller controls the cam member. The cam member is in cam engagement with the edger in response to actuation of the cam operator. This camming action actuates the edge bar to seal the end region of the extrusion die.

Background technique [0002] Extrusion dies for extruding plastic films have holes that extend along the length of the die. In operation, molten polymer flows under pressure through internal runners in the mold and out of the mold through holes. In order to control the width of the plastic film produced using an extrusion die, for example to make wider or narrower plastic film, the extrusion die will include a bezel system. When in use, the beading system is inserted into the internal runner of the die, preventing extrudate from flowing through the portion of the die occupied by the beading system.
