Embodiment Construction

[0038] An exemplary bicycle helmet includes a shell, liner and sensor system. The sensor system is at least partially disposed on the housing or pad. The sensor system detects user status and wirelessly transmits a status signal representative of the detected user status to a paired device, such as a mobile device. Through the status signal, the mobile device can determine whether the user has suffered damage and whether to contact emergency services. Bicycle helmets may include integrated microphones and speakers so that users can speak to emergency services operators. Additionally, the mobile device could stream music or other audio wirelessly to the bicycle helmet's speakers. In some possible embodiments, a bicycle helmet could be paired with, and collect data from, the bicycle itself.

Dealing with the wires between headphones and portable music players is a challenge. Additionally, not all bicycle helmets accommodate headphones, including in-ear headphones, and not all headphones are effective at reducing wind noise while cycling. Contents of the invention [0002] According to the present invention, a bicycle helmet is provided, comprising: [0003] case; [0004] a gasket disposed on the shell; [0005] A sensor system disposed at least partially on at least one of the housing and the liner, wherein the sensor system is configured to detect a user state and transmit a state signal representative of the detected user state to a paired device. [0006] According to an embodiment of the present invention, the sensor system includes a crash sensor configured to detect a change in acceleration and ...
