Embodiment 1

[0020] (1) Collecting and sorting out cowpea local varieties and germplasm resources, there are more than 46 copies of various germplasm resources and materials (see Table 1). On the basis of collection and arrangement, field planting observation is carried out. Focus on screening early-maturing, low-temperature-resistant, and high-yielding cowpea germplasm resources and materials, and select 1 to 2 generations according to the breeding goal of self-purification. According to the performance of inbred line materials from different sources, 12 hybrid combinations were prepared, conventional breeding was carried out, selfing was separated and purified, and selfing was carried out for 6 generations.

Abstract

The invention discloses a breeding method of an early maturing cowpea variety. The method includes the steps of: (1) screening early maturing, low temperature resistant and high-yielding cowpea germplasm resources and materials from cowpea local varieties and germplasm resources, performing selfing purification according to a breeding goal, then preparing hybrid combination for conventional breeding, and carrying out selfing separation and purification; (2) conducting sowing and seedling raising on a self-bred 6th generation variety or strain, and performing seedling stage low temperature and weak light tolerance identification; (3) investigating the germination potential on the 6th day of seedling raising, investigating the seedling emergence, seedling height, stem diameter, cotyledon length*width on the twelfth day of seedling raising, and calculating a low temperature and weak light tolerance index according to the investigation result; and (4) performing statistical analysis on the identification result, screening out the low temperature and weak light tolerance variety or strain with a high index and sending the variety or strain to a variety comparison test, thus obtaining the low temperature and weak light tolerance early maturing cowpea variety. Seedlings and adult plants have high positive correlation with environmental condition response, by means of early stage seedling screening, the low temperature and weak light tolerance of the variety or strain can be identified at the seedling stage, and the variety or strain with poor low temperature and weak light tolerance can be eliminated, thus effectively reducing the number of screened varieties or lines, greatly alleviating the workload of field test, and accelerating the breeding process.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a breeding method for cowpea varieties, which belongs to the technical field of plant breeding and is specially used for breeding early-maturing cowpea varieties. Background technique [0002] The traditional breeding method of early-maturing cowpea varieties is to use field experiments, set plots and repeats, and compare with control varieties such as low-temperature and low-light resistance, flower spike node position and early yield (the yield of the control starting to harvest 15 days) and other traits to screen early-maturing cowpea varieties. Variety, its process is complex, will consume more manpower and material resources. At present, there is no related patent on the breeding of early-maturing cowpea varieties in China. Contents of the invention [0003] The object of the present invention is to provide a kind of breeding method of early maturing cowpea variety. The invention improves the conventional cowpea breedi...
