Abstract

The invention provides a method of using an image processing technology to monitor drunk driving and a system thereof and belongs to the traffic safety technology field. The method and the system are mainly used for monitoring and tracking a drunk driver in real time so that polices are sent timely to intercept the driver and a fatal traffic accident incidence rate is reduced. The system comprises an image acquisition unit, an image processing unit, a control unit, a tracking unit and a scheduling unit, wherein the image acquisition unit is formed by a visible light camera and a thermal infrared camera; the image processing unit preprocesses and stores a visible light image and a thermal infrared image; the control unit fuses visible light image information and thermal infrared image information so as to identify whether the driver is in a drunk driving state; the tracking unit uses the visible light camera to carry out license plate identification and tracks a vehicle whose driver is drunk; and the scheduling unit deploys nearby polices to intercept the vehicle whose driver is drunk. In the invention, the driver whose is drunk can be identified, the vehicle whose driver is drunk can be tracked, the polices can be deployed to intercept the vehicle whose driver is drunk, and drunk driving identification precision and investigation efficiency are increased.
