[0029] Electronic components are usually packaged in tape-wound configurations, commonly referred to as SMT (Surface Mount Technology) reels (20). These packages can typically contain 5,000 to 10,000 electronics per reel (package). As shown in the accompanying drawings, the cart (10) is designed to accommodate 14 rows (26A -26G) on a 7-inch reel. Plastic dividers (30) form slots defining reel storage locations for placing reels there. The arrangement of these plastic dividers (30) minimizes the excess space of the reel in three dimensions. There are seven rows on each side of the cart (10), for a total of 14 rows. The plastic dividers (30) in each row have 80 reel storage locations for a total of 1120 reel storage locations for the cart. A diagram of the component is shown in figure 1 shown.

Abstract

A device for storing and retrieving electronic components such as, but not limited to, capacitors, resistors, and integrated circuits. Parts are stored on a single package single location basis on lockable racks within the mobile cart. Each stored component information, such as its part number, location and quantity, is stored locally on the board and shared to the computer network via Wi‑Fi.
