Abstract

The invention relates to an apparatus and method for generating a warning in a vehicle, which generate a warning based on a distance in order to avoid a problem that may occur when a collision warningis generated based on only a time required for a collision. The method for generating a warning in a vehicle includes: obtaining a distance and a relative speed of the vehicle to a target vehicle ahead; obtaining a time required for a collision with the target vehicle from the distance and the relative speed; and generating a warning when at least one of a first condition in which the time required for the collision is equal to or less than a predetermined warning generation time and a second condition in which the distance is equal to or less than a predetermined warning generation distanceis satisfied.
