Abstract

The invention discloses a method for improving pomelo sugar content and quality. The method comprises the steps that a pomelo tree body is coated with a thin layer of covering membrane from late Julyto August every year at the later period of pomelo fruit swelling and 1-1.5 months before fruits are picked, namely in months when there exists more rain water, and the diurnal temperature in the membrane is increased. By means of the method, the diurnal temperature of a pomelo orchard is increased to facilitate the accumulation of sugar content, soluble solids of crystal honey pomelo reaches up to 12.20%-13.40%, the soluble solids of grapefruits reaches up to 12.25%-13.92%, the quality of pomelo fruits which are cultured by rain sheltering membrane coating is more stable, the influence by therain water is extremely low, and better quality is ensured even in years when there exists more rain water.
