Abstract

The invention relates to novel application of stachydrine hydrochloride, in particular to application of stachydrine hydrochloride in the preparation of drugs, foods or health products to prevent andtreat ischemic cerebrovascular diseases. Pharmacological tests via a rat focal cerebral ischemia model verify that the stachydrine hydrochloride is capable of evidently lowering area percentage of brain injury due to focal cerebral ischemia caused by rat suture occlusion, evidently improving post-ischemic neural behaviors of a rat, increasing the SOD content in serum and lowering MDA content. Thestachydrine hydrochloride has great brain protection; with low molecular weight, the stachydrine hydrochloride has significant brain permeability. The stachydrine hydrochloride is well applicable to the prevention and treatment of ischemic cerebrovascular diseases.
